Nothing else to install: the plugin only bundles the Freemius SDK, which handles licenses and updates.

Free or Premium version

The plugin comes in two versions, built from the same code:

FreePremium (Solo, Pro, Agency)
FEC export✔✔
Every accounting feature: VAT per rate and OSS, payments and gateway fees, sales by category, customer accounts, credit notes, document number, duplicate protection, preview, history, setup wizard✔✔
12 more formats: DATEV, Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Sage 50, Exact Online, SAP FI/CO, Zoho Books, Holded, Pennylane, EBP, Ciel—✔
Automatic monthly export by email—✔
Updates and support—✔ (for the duration of the license)

The Premium trial lasts 14 days, without a payment method. See the Premium plans.

Install the plugin

  1. Free version: in Plugins → Add New Plugin, search for “Accounting Export for WooCommerce” in the WordPress.org directory (plugin page), or upload the .zip file with Upload Plugin.
  2. Premium version: after the purchase or the start of the trial, download the Premium archive from your Freemius customer portal (the link is also sent by email), then install it with Upload Plugin. It installs in the accounting-export-for-woocommerce-premium folder.
  3. Activate the plugin. WooCommerce must be installed and active. On first access, a Freemius screen appears: optional sign-up for the free version (“Skip” button), license activation for the Premium version.
  4. The Accounting Export submenu appears under WooCommerce. A Settings link is also shown on the plugin’s row in the plugins list.
  5. On first launch, a banner offers the setup wizard: choose your chart of accounts (see Getting started). “Later” postpones the banner by 7 days.

If WooCommerce is missing, deactivated or older than 8.0, the plugin stays inactive (no menu) and a notice tells you so, without a fatal error.

Upgrade from the free version to Premium

Install and activate the Premium version without removing the free one: the free version is deactivated automatically. Settings, export history and order locks are shared by both versions and stay in place.

Trial ending without a purchase: the 12 Premium formats appear with the “— Premium” suffix and can no longer be selected, and the automatic monthly export stops. FEC and every other feature remain available. License not renewed: you keep your formats; only updates and support stop.

Deactivate

Deactivation only removes the scheduled task of the monthly export. No data is deleted: reactivating finds everything as it was.

Delete

Deleting the plugin from the admin removes the settings, the history, the export files and the scheduled tasks. By default it keeps the accounting data: export locks of orders and refunds, generated invoice numbers and yearly counters. Without these locks, a reinstall would offer documents that are already in your books.

To delete everything, including this data, add this to wp-config.php before deleting:

define( 'WOO_ACCOUNTING_EXPORT_REMOVE_ALL_DATA', true );

WooCommerce must be active at that moment for order metadata to be purged. The operation is irreversible: back up the database and keep the export files you need before running it.
