How it works
- Connect your site. The setup assistant guides you: connection with your email address, a one-sentence description of your business, the fields to fill. No API key, no AI account to create.
- Upload images as usual. Each new image joins SafeAlt’s queue, without slowing down the upload.
- SafeAlt writes the texts. The image is analysed on our servers, then the texts are written in the language of your content, taking into account the page where the image is used. Processing goes on even when nobody visits the site.
- You have the last word. Empty fields are filled in directly; when a field already has a value, SafeAlt proposes a replacement that you accept or not.

Your texts are respected
A field that already has a value is never overwritten: SafeAlt proposes, you choose “Replace” or “Keep current”. Previous values can always be restored.

Context-aware texts
The title follows the page where the image is used; the caption relates the image to your business when it is relevant. The alt text describes what the image shows.

Quality checks
Guesses and invented names are detected and removed automatically. An uncertain result is flagged “to review” and never written automatically.
Review mode
Prefer to approve everything yourself? In review mode, every text goes through the Proposals screen, keyboard-friendly.
Images already published
Images inserted in your pages without alt text receive one when the page is displayed, as soon as it is written.

No third-party AI

Deleted right away
Each image is deleted from our servers as soon as it has been analysed. Written texts and context are erased after 30 days.
Never reused

Metadata stripped on your site
Before anything is sent, your site reduces the image and removes its metadata (EXIF, GPS location). They never leave your server.
Nothing without your consent
No image is sent until an administrator has connected the site and accepted it. No access logs on the service.

Install SafeAlt
SafeAlt is published in the official WordPress plugin directory: install it straight from your admin, in a few clicks.
- In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin and search for “SafeAlt”.
- Click Install Now, then Activate.
- The assistant opens: click Connect my site and enter your email address. Your 25 free images for the month are available right away.
Frequently asked questions
Can SafeAlt overwrite texts I wrote?
No. Only empty fields (or a title taken from the file name) are filled in automatically. When a field already has a value, SafeAlt proposes an alternative that you keep or not. Previous values are saved, and the “Reset” button restores them.
What does the quota count?
Each successfully described image counts as one image, whatever fields are written. Failures and cancellations are never counted. The quota renews every month.
What happens when the quota is reached?
The queue pauses until the renewal, and a banner offers the higher plans. Your site keeps working normally: nothing is ever blocked.
How long does it take?
Each image is really looked at, in the background: a new image is usually described within minutes, and a first run over several thousand images can take a few days. There is nothing to watch: texts appear by themselves in the media library.
Are my images used to train an AI?
No. They are only used to describe them, on our own servers in Europe: never sent to a big tech AI provider, never used for training, never sold or shared.
How do I pay for a plan?
Right in your WordPress admin, in SafeAlt’s “Plans” tab, monthly or yearly (two months free). Payment is handled securely by Freemius, our reseller, which charges the VAT of your country and sends the invoice. The plan is activated on your site automatically.
Can I get a refund?
Yes: a subscription can be fully refunded within 14 days of each payment, no questions asked.
Is there documentation in English?
The documentation is currently available in French. For any question, use our support form.
